Colleagues and Friends,

Last night, the Sacramento Valley Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame awarded Timmy Balmain the Scholar Athlete Award for his outstanding play on the football field this past season (1st Team All CVC Tight End), his excellence in the classroom (Total GPA 3.8) and his many hours of service to our community and our school.  The Oakmont ...

Oakmont Football Families, Friends & Alumni!

I sure hope everyone is enjoying the spring-like weather. Now that basketball and wrestling have wrapped up and baseball and track and field are getting going, we need to start thinking about Oakmont Football 2016! As many of you already know, Oakmont Athletics has entered into a contract with Eastbay/Nike. The football program was selected to be one of the sports to get new Nike game uniforms for the 2016 season. However, we are “on-the-hook” to pay for them. In order to make this possible we have decided to run a “Uniform Drive” campaign through eTeamSponsor to help us raise the needed funds to purchase the uniforms the boys want. The link below will take .........

PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO OUR FOOTBALL FAMILIES!

Unfortunately, I have dropped the ball in conveying Oakmont Football’s expectations concerning wearing pink in recognition for Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October. As many of you remember, I feel that supporting this cause is very important, however, I don’t feel that it is necessary for our players to wear pink nearly half our season. Staying with tradition and my desire to help our players understand the importance of supporting a cause greater than themselves, we (Coaches and Players) will show our support by wearing pink during our Week 7 games on October 15th and 16th vs Whitney HS.

In order for all of us to gain the proper ......

Oakmont Football Families,

Are you ready for some Oakmont Football! We have all worked so very hard for what is to come over the next 10 weeks. All three levels are seeing an increase in players missing either partial or full practices over the last two weeks. High school football is highly competitive and demands a full complement of preparation during the each week. Not only are they being prepared to be successful schematically in all 3 phases of the game but their bodies are being prepared for the demanding physical nature of the sport. This specifically relates to the prevention of injury. Unfortunately, none of us can guarantee complete safety on the football field, however, each practice is designed to provide our players .........

Oakmont Football Families,

I hope everyone has enjoyed our summer training camp as much as I and the rest of the coaching staff has. The majority of our players have shown an outstanding commitment and a willingness to "buy in" 100% to our program and the expectations we have for them. As I have said for years, the success of our program is a direct result of all who are involved (players, parents, OTC, coaches and the OHS administration) to be on the same page going in the same direction at all times. I am confident that we are well on our way to a very successful season!

As you are aware, your player was issued his football gear yesterday. Following each season, all the helmets and shoulder pads are sent away for ...

Colleagues, Coaches, Oakmont Football Families and Friends,

The last 2-weeks have been very challenging for all of us. It is gut wrenching for me to watch my football program bring such negativity to our school and community in which I have personally worked so hard to do the exact opposite for the last 15 years (6 as the Head Coach). I know that all of you know that my coaches and I teach that winning in life is more important than any win on the football field. I am very proud to share with all of you something so very positive that I believe it can overshadow the recent negativity.

At the completion of the 1st quarter, 97 of 146 OHS FOOTBALL PLAYERS earned a 3.0 GPA or better. The VARSITY TEAM GPA is 3.23, the JV TEAM GPA is 3.16 ............

Colleagues,

When we took the field to play Antelope Friday night, you may have noticed that many of the Vikings will be wearing something pink. As you know, the NFL shows their support of Breast Cancer Awareness by wearing pink. In order for them to do so, they need to make a monetary donation. Every year, I struggle with the fact that high school age players are wearing pink to look cool instead wearing pink for a purpose. To help our players in the OHS Football program understand the purpose of wearing pink, we set aside last Friday night’s game as our night to show our support on our uniform with a purpose! Each Player and Coach that was wearing pink Friday night or Thursday night made a monetary donation to do so. The ...
