Touchdowns Against Childhood Cancer -

Oakmont Football will be raising money to support Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital again this year through our 2017 Touchdowns Against Childhood Cancer campaign! In 2016, with the help of many of our families, teachers and friends our program raised over $1000 to help the fight against childhood cancer. In fact, Oakmont Football was in the top 5 programs in our area last year! We are looking to get back into the top 5 this year. Please click on the link below that will direct you to our campaign page and make your per/TD donation or flat donation. If you choose the per/TD donation, the amount you donate will be multiplied by the number of TD’s we score against Casa Roble next Friday night in our home opener and the following week against Cosumnes Oaks when we kickoff CVC play. Both these games are at home so we are “VERY” excited to celebrate each TD with our home crowd. Thank you for always supporting Oakmont Football in all the different areas we are seeking to make a difference!

21 Aug 2017    Oakmont Football - Kick Off!

Dear Oakmont Football Families,

This week is the official kick off the 2017 football season. Exciting!

As we look forward to a great season of football, the Oakmont Touchdown Club Board of Directors, along with the entire coaching staff, is appealing to you to go above and beyond in helping your student-athlete have a successful season.

For Oakmont families, this football program is a contact sport, not a spectator sport. All of us need to be involved in significant ways in order for games, practices and team functions to go smoothly.

Pre-game, during the game, and post-game...your student-athlete needs your help!

Each parent or guardian is expected to fulfill 12 volunteer hours over the course of the season at home games.

Tomorrow you will receive an important email with a link and instructions to an online tool called Sign Up Genius. Please follow the easy instructions and start signing up now for all of this year's home games.

We cannot stress enough how important your involvement is. Even the most basic volunteer function, if not fulfilled, can cause problems during home games.

I know. I know. We are all very busy! We can all come up with excuses to not volunteer. But please remember that many hands make light work.

Thank you in advance for your commitment to Oakmont Football. If you have any questions feel free to connect with your team mom.

Go Vikings!

Sean Wallentine, President

Oakmont Touchdown Club

1 Aug 2017    FROSH - Practice Schedule Update 8/2 & 8/3

Freshmen Families,

Many of you have expressed concerns about the Blue Crew Orientation on Thursday 8/3. I spoke with Coach Lovell today and he said the boys that are attending Blue Crew can do so from 2-4 and then attend practice after 4:00.

Also Coach needs the boys to arrive at 3:30 for practice tomorrow 8/2 and meet in Coach Hunter's room in order to take head shots that will be used for the programs for the games and buttons that will be sold later on.  Please do your best to be there on time.

Lastly, it is going to be very hot the next two days. Please make sure the boys are eating well throughout the day and drink lots of water.

Thank you

29 Jul 2017    FROSH - Fall Camp
Good Morning Freshmen Families,

Here is an email from Coach Lovell....

Fall camp begins Monday August 31st. Students should be cleared through the Oakmont athletic clearance process and arrive for camp in time for any matters to be settled before a 4:30 practice start. Students should expect to be at school until 8:30 through practice on Friday of the first week. Saturday practice will take place from 8:30 to 12:30.

Athletes will need athletic wear, a mouth piece and all issued football equipment. They may also bring water bottles, although water will be available here as well. Freshmen should bring their football binders from the summer every day (or a spiral notebook if they are just joining us).

The young men should concentrate on hydration and nutritional needs as well as sufficient rest this week. The weather will be challenging and preparation for physical exertion will be critical. They should drink 8-10 cups of water a day and eat a healthy significant meal a few hours prior to practice. Healthy snacks may be helpful for consumption during breaks.

Please have parents pick up and drop off in the front parking lot.

We are still accepting young men to the team. Anyone aware of an interested student athlete should get them in contact with us as soon as possible.

4 Jul 2017    Varsity Football Updates - Week of 7/3/17

Hi Varsity Parents!

Happy 4th of July!

Here are your updates for the week:

Wednesday, July 5th 3rd Annual Viking Football Combine  9am-12pm

Thursday, July 6th - 3rd Annual Viking Football Combine  9am-12pm

All parents are welcome to watch the Combine from the stands.

Reminder:  Due to a ton of construction to the gym, surrounding concrete areas, the blacktop courts and the softball fields, NO ONE is allowed to park out back any longer. The front parking lot is the only place anyone can park the rest of the 2017 summer. There will be a new route we will have to take from the stadium to the weight room, which will be quite a bit longer than our usual route. As a result, the end time for our practices will be extended 10 minutes. Sorry for the inconvenience……

Monday, July 10th - Friday, July 28th - Mandatory CIF Dead Period (No practice allowed)

Although this is a "dead period", the boys are strongly encouraged to attend one of the weight room sessions each day.  The weight room will be open every day from 9-10:30am and 5-6:30pm. There will be a coach present each day and there will be a sign in sheet.

Please be sure you have a mouthpiece for your son before practices begin again on 7/31!!

Oakmont Touchdown Club (OTC) monthly Booster Club meeting - Wednesday, July 5th 7pm

This month's OTC meeting will be tomorrow (7/5) at 7pm at Cool River Pizza in the Parlor Room.  Please plan to come to the meeting to see what is going on with Oakmont Football and how you can be a part of it!

Viking Vizas -

If you still need to pick up your Viking Vizas, please see Coach Moore after practice this week to get those.  It is imperative that every player participate in this fundraiser, as the proceeds go towards replacing safety equipment and other things essential to your son's safety on the field.

Extra Spirit Pack Clothing -

If anyone would like their son to have two of any of the Spirit Pack clothing he has received thus far, you are welcome to buy more.

·        Shorts - $25

·        Compression Shirt - $25

·        Stronger Together White T-Shirt - $10

Please send cash or a check (payable to "Oakmont Football")  to practice with your son if you would like any of these items.

Still to come are the Nike Polo Shirt all players will wear on the first day of school and once per week during the season and game socks. Both of these items are included in your Spirit Pack.

Blue & White Raffle Tickets -

If you have not yet received, or paid for, your Blue & White Raffle tickets, please contact Rowena Mendoza (rowena.baash-mendoza@teleplan .com) ASAP to make arrangements to pick those up.  Again, it is important for your son to sell these raffle tickets, as the proceeds support the Oakmont Touchdown Booster Club (OTC).

Think that is all for now!  We hope you all enjoy your festivities today!

25 Jun 2017    BINGO July Schedules

Hi Varsity Parents,

As you may or may not know, the Oakmont Performing Arts Booster Club (OPAB)  runs a bingo session every Saturday morning.  Football families are welcome to work shifts to help offset the costs of football registration costs.  You will earn $35 for each shift your work and you get an $8 credit to use in the bingo snack bar.  If you work during the summer, you also receive a $5 gift card every time you work.  The money will be kept in a bingo account in your son's name.  These funds can be used to pay for registration costs, to "buy out" of the Blue & White raffle tickets, or to "buy out" of the Viking Vizas.  I have worked bingo for a number of years.  I accumulated enough funds to pay for both of my boys football registration costs, and to buy out of both the Blue & White tickets and Viking Vizas.

Working bingo is an easy, fun way to ease the financial burden of football costs.  They will train you on the different positions available.  It really is easy and fun.

If you are interested in working bingo shifts, please contact Lechelle Tallman (opab.bingoscheduler@gmail.com), or you can contact me if you have any questions.

I have included the July bingo schedule which shows the shifts that are available.

Thanks!

Cashiers are the first friendly face to greet our players. The main duty for the cashiering position is to sell a "Buy-In" to the customer. The computer system we use is very user friendly and even the newest volunteer will feel comfortable after only a few sales. Players may purchase paper and/or machines. Cashiers ring up the sale, receive coupons, redeem points and collect cash for the sale before wishing the player good luck! Once the session gets started, the Cashier will close out their station and will then transfer into another sales position on the hall floor. Please refer to Special Games and/or Pull Tabs for more information. Cashiers are also responsible for selling 4-5-6-9 games on the floor before half time and collecting the machines after the game has been played.

Floor Hosts have the pleasure of paying players for their verified bingos. This is one of the most fun jobs available. As a floor host, you get to survey the room, schmooze with the customers, verify bingos and then pay them out. Everyone loves to receive money. You also get the pleasure of taking donations for our scholarship fund. This is what it's all about!  You may be a bit tentative, but after a few "thank yous" on the microphone, you will be ready to break out in song!

Special Games is where the action is! We sell games referred to as "Flash Board" and boy do we sell them. On any given Saturday, we sell over $5000 in Flash. We also sell "Paper". Special Games volunteers should come to the session ready to move. While we do spend some time behind the counter, we spend a lot of our day walking the floor and selling to customers at their seats. We need at least 3 to 4 volunteers to work this area each week. This is one area that our effort has a direct effect on our deposit. The more we sell, the more our children benefit!

25 Jun 2017    OHS Parent Night Out Fundraiser

Hi Oakmont Parents!

We would like to reach out to all our parents in hopes to find a Parent Night Out Fundraiser Chair.  Also known as Jersey and Jeans, Monte Carlo Night or a great suggestion from you!  We are trying to fundraise to make a little extra for the booster club to help support Football expenses.  A simple dinner, drinks, music and raffle prizes is what we have in mind but again we can leave that up the parent or parents to decide.  There are sponsorship incentives for hitting a fundraising goals.  Scholarships up to $550 awarded to the parent that is willing on to put on a great event.  We are hoping to have the event on Saturday Oct 25th.

Anyone interested please contact me and we will set up a meeting to discuss details.

Thank you again!

13 Jun 2017    Freshman Football Weekly Updates 6/12/17

Good Evening Freshman Families,

~6/14 Due to construction we will be moving our OTC meeting to Cool River this month from 7-8pm in the River Room. Please come and be part of our OTC meeting and see what it takes to run our program. We are still in need of volunteers.

~Tomorrow starts our Summer Camp Practices..... Please make sure your boys are well hydrated and eat good a few hours before. It will not be too hot tomorrow afternoon, but starting Thursday it is going to get a lot warmer. It is really important for them to hydrate a few days before, and not wait till the morning of practice.  They need to wear gym clothes, sneakers, bring their cleats & a water bottle. They will receive their "spirit pack" tomorrow and will need to wear that to each practice from then on.  They need to be at the stadium, ready to go at 4:00pm and practice will end at approx 7:30pm.

~If your son is not going to make practice please email Coach Lovell to let him know. (zlovell@rjuhsd.us)

Here is a message from Coach Moore,

Oakmont Football Families!

Just a reminder that each and every player needs to sell their 15 VIKING VIZA’s. This fundraiser is how we are able to purchase player safety equipment, footballs, uniforms, etc…. On Saturday, our “MANDATORY” Viking Viza Kick-off and Blitz was skipped by 30 players without any prior communication as to why they were not able to attend. “THANK YOU” to all those families that made sure their player was in attendance or made sure their player communicated with me ahead of time if there was a scheduling conflict. We are currently $20,000 away from our goal! Please help me by encouraging your player to get their 15 cards sold by Thursday’s practice. All players that sell their 15 cards by Thursday’s practice get the new custom Oakmont Football bucket hat as a thank you for their hard work and support. I guarantee they will not want to miss out on this opportunity. The bucket hats will not be available to anyone other than those who sold their 15 cards.

Let’s reach our goal so our players can be provided the proper safety equipment this year and future years!!!

Go Vikes!!!

Coach Moore

Hope you all had a great day celebrating your 8th Grade Promotions!! Can you believe it they are Freshmen now!!!

We will be playing a triple header at Del Campo on Thursday, October 26th. Frosh – 3pm/JV – 5pm/Varsity – 7:15pm. We will shuttle our teams using one bus like usual and will only provide a return bus for varsity after their game. Of course, any stranded frosh and jv players will be able to ride with us if needed. This way our frosh and JV players can leave when they want so they can get their HW done and get to bed at a decent time. Our frosh players will need to be excused from class during 4th period that day.

Hi Varsity Parents,

It was great to see you last night!  If you are interested in working bingo to help offset next years registration fees, please see the email below.  The Performing Arts Booster Club (OPAB) runs the Bingo session every Saturday morning and they are in desperate need of volunteers for this Saturday's session.  You will earn $35 per shift and that money will be held in an account in your son's name.  It is really easy and fun!

If you can help out at all on Saturday, please contact Lechelle Tallman at opc.bingoscheduler@gmail.com.

Here is what you will need to complete the on line registration (more details are noted on the attached). It’s important that each parent remembers their log in as they will be required to log in to update and/or register your son for any other sports.

·         Student’s School ID#

o   Located in their Homelink account when you registered your son, if you can’t remember it we will have a list at the parent meeting and you  can log in to complete the form.

·         Student’s School Email

o   Located in their Homelink account when you registered your son, if you can’t remember it we will have a list at the parent meeting and you can log in to complete the form.

·         Access to print the consent form – Will not be turned in at the parent meeting but to Kathy Corbett in the office.

·         Physical will need to be dated on or after May 24th no exceptions. Once this is done it will have to be uploaded in this system.

·         The player will need to read and sign a few items so they will need to be on hand when their parent is registering them.

We will have chrome books at the meeting next week for parents that don’t have access to a computer or didn’t do it beforehand. I will be on hand to help those that might need a little extra assistance.

That is all for now... I can't wait to see you all at the Parent Meeting...

Hello OHS Football Parents,

Welcome to the 2017 OHS Football Team! For all returning players, this is the new email address we will be using this season.  This email contains a lot of information about our new online registration, football costs, and the required sports physical.  Please read it carefully and see the attached document for detailed instructions on how to complete the online registration.

The Mandatory Parent/Player Meeting for the 2017 Football Season will be on WEDNESDAY, MAY 10th at 7:00 pm in the Oakmont Gym.   ALL PARENTS AND PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND.

As of May 2017 Oakmont Athletics is switching to an online system for clearing students for participation in athletics, club sports, dance, cheer and all other applicable programs. This means we will no longer distribute or accept paper copies of athletics paperwork, with the exception of the District Health Exam Form which students, their families, and a qualified healthcare provider will be responsible for printing out, completing, and uploading as a part of the online clearance process. NOTE: Only sports physicals dated after May 24th 2017 will be accepted for usage for the 2017-2018 school year clearance process..
